GL Accessories, Crochet Hits the Runway at HAUTE 2013

Years ago I met a Fashion Designer who specialized in crochet wears. The industry caught on, now crochet has gone mainstream being featured on many Fashion Weeks runways. Crochet accessories? Yes, Gwendolyn Lancaster and her GL Accessories line will bring it live to the runway at HAUTE Accessories Week 2013. GL Accessories specialize in crochet accessories; scarves, earrings, necklaces. You name it, GL Accessories can deliver it crocheted.

Gwendolyn Lancaster is a self taught Crochet Designer who has honed her craft by making here own personal pieces until perfection is gained.

After visiting the local library, checking out a ‘How to Crochet’ DVD she was on her way to creativity! Exhilarated by wearing something her own hands made but fearful that no one would like her creations, she trusted God and followed her vision, opening her online boutique... GL Accessories was born!

Accessoreez to shine at Haute....AGAIN!

For the third consecutive year Leslie Belcher-Hudson's distinctive line, Accessoreez will grace the runway at HAUTE Accessories Week. Accessoreez can be considered the true icon of this event, being the first accessory line on board for the original presentation of HAUTE.

Leslie Belcher-Huston is the lead designer of accessoreez, a handcrafted line of contemporary art glass borosilicate jewelry. Her creative energies coalesce in the production of distinctive designs as elegant tropical hues synergistically merge with a high desert color palette of hot fired glass, fresh water pearls, turquoise, coral, hammered copper & silver, and other select materials.

Leslie’s art glass instruction included studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, Mills College in Oakland, Ca, and the University of San Diego.

Today she collaborates with her sister, Shelley Harper, a noted metal worker, on unique one-of-a-kind designs. Shelley’s studies include the University of Puget Sound & a BS from the University of Southern California.

Coming from two dramatically different regions, Leslie and her design studios are based on Florida’s Gulf Coast in St. Petersburg, Florida, while Shelley can be found at her studio in Cave Creek, Arizona, a quaint artist’s village in the foot hills of the Sonoran desert.

The marketing side of accessoreez is in the able hands of John Huston, Leslie’s husband. John is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BS degree in Mass Communication. He has won several awards for his marketing skills including 2009 E-marketing All Star from Constant Contact.

"We're passionate about our work and are constantly heartened by the ardent feedback we receive from our clients" states Leslie. "We adore the thoughtful note or the kind phone call because it truly validates the emergence of glass art as a significant design element in today’s fashion scene" adds Shelley.

Within each creation, their commitment to distinction rings true by drawing inspiration from Nature’s majesty and transforming it’s bounty into each of their accessoreez “Art to Wear” originals!

Tenaj by Nicolette Satchell, Simply Elegant at HAUTE 2013

Young Jamaican born designer Nicolette Satchell, focused and bubbling with creativity looks to establish her Tenaj line within the accessories market. Her bold new creations can be seen for the first time on the runway at HAUTE Accessories Week on Friday September 6 at Hunter's Green Country Club in Tampa, Florida.

Initially Nicolette Satchell learnt how to make jewelry by creating pieces her own pieces in an effort to save and also to have unique items that she would not find other women wearing. After taking a Michaels Jewelry Making Class in August 2011, she fiddled with her creativity and started making numerous pieces.

She took the pieces she created to her office to show her team members her works of art and they started asking for prices and placing orders. On the first day of taking her items to the office, most of her pieces were already claimed by team members and orders were placed for other jewelry pieces to match the ones they bought. She figured this would be a great addition to her already established clothing line and since then, she has been making unique jewelry pieces that people can wear on an daily basis, on any occasion and still feel distinctive.

Most of her pieces are geared toward everyday wearing and tend to target a clientele base who are simple, but unique at the same time. However, her clients are able to order specific jewelry sets to match their outfits for specific occasions. She tries very hard not to duplicate her pieces, if they are duplicated they are not the same pieces; there is always something different about each piece. The idea is for women to look and feel unique without worrying that they might see someone else in what they are wearing. She is fairly new to the industry and continuously seeks new ways of allowing women to feel unique and express themselves through her accessories
